Taking care of your linen products is easy

Quick instructions:

  • wash linen products separately from other laundry (and always wash dark colours separately)
  • before placing the textiles in the washing machine, rinse them until they are soaking wet. Especially linen terry! (When the water in the washer does not all absorb in the dry textiles there will be more water left for washing and carrying fluff away.)
  • check the filter of the washing machine regularly, especially before and after washing a new product for the first time
  • 60 ° C, short spin, machine half full, normal cycle
  • straighten the textiles and hang on the line to dry
  • mangle flat woven linen textiles when moist

Sorting and preparation for washing linen products
:

  • obey always the washing instructions and temperatures (usually 60 ° C) given on the label

  • remove stains when they are fresh and use natural stain soap, if necessary
  •
wash linen textiles separately from other laundry, as natural fibre tends to loose lint (nap) especially during the first washes
  • only load your washing machine half-way in order to keep textiles smoother
  • rinse textiles before putting them in the washer

Washing
:

  • linen does not usually need to be pre-washed, it just unnecessarily wears out the fabric
  • the usual wash temperature is 60°C
  •
linen also tolerates higher temperatures but it wears out the material faster
  • using plenty of water reduces creasing during wash

  • slow wash cycle and high level of water in the wash reduces lint loosing during the first washes (so called delicate cycle)

  • bleaching agents whiten the natural-coloured linen fast

  • avoid long spin as it can cause permanent creasing
  • check the filter before and after wash according to instructions in the machine manual

Aftercare
:

  • straighten the textiles immediately after washing and hang on the line to dry
  • avoid using tumble dryer as it wears out natural fabrics
  • mangle or iron linen products while they are still moist
  • linen tolerates very high ironing temperatures
  • mangled napkins can be folded to make impressive settings for festive table settings

Special treatments
:

  • chlorine bleach is not recommended for linen textiles
  • table linens can be starched after wash, follow the instructions of the starch manufacturer

Tips for wash and care:

  •
new linen textiles can be soaked in lukewarm water before wash, this may help to avoid creasing during the wash and loose fluff staying on the textiles
  • linen terry becomes nice and smooth if you mangle it after washing

  • slightly moist table cloth is easy to straighten by rolling it around a plastic-coated cardboard roll and rolling it against the table for 5 minutes. Water creases straighten by themselves and the cloth is easy to iron so that it becomes really crease-free
